Recend editions of The Hill include articles with headlines like this:

• "Defense giants don't give McCain much campaign cash". Boeing fears he might actually exercise oversight once he becomes Armed Services chairman.
• "K street rallies, grumbles about House Dems". First of all, why would lobbyists care what House Democrats think about anything? The minority party in the House has virtually no power to move legislation. Second, isn't it a good thing that lobbyists don't have near-carte blanche access to members?
• "Negotiating the stress of corporate giving", which talks about how hard it is for companies to give appropriate holiday gifts to members of Congress.
• "Chamber [of Commerce] keeping score, looks ahead to races for 110th Congress", which is all about how the Chamber of Commerce is pushing it's "pro-business" agenda to keep the US in a low-tax, low-service model of government like most Latin American countries.

Awesome.

Update: How could I forget: "Specter's pork chop riles sens". Pork happens, and making too much of an issue out of pork distracts from the basic failures of Republican governance, but it's gotten out of hand under the current congress, which has six times as many earmarks in its highway bill as the bill in 1998. "The savings will be used to pay for the fight against the global spread of AIDS; to increase funding for LIHEAP, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program; and to fund new construction of health-preparedness facilities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said a House GOP aide familiar with the legislation." Clearly, that bridge to nowhere is more important than keeping poor people from freezing this winter or AIDS prevention.
